CONTACT
At Ginemedica Medical Centre, we attach great importance to the diagnosis and psychological care of both adults and children and adolescents. After consulting with educationalists and school psychologists, we have welcomed to our team specialists in the diagnosis of developmental disorders of children and adolescents, including autism. This disorder often manifests itself in childhood, but adults also undertake diagnosis.
The diagnosis of autism is based on the use of the ADOS-2 test. It is a diagnostic test to assess a patient’s symptoms of autism. The ADOS-2 observation is used as part of the diagnosis process worldwide and is considered the gold standard in the field. The observation can be performed periodically to monitor the child’s progress. Typically, the diagnostic cycle requires 3-4 meetings with a specialist.

What is ADOS-2?
ADOS-2 is an observation protocol for the diagnosis of autism spectrum disorders. It is a diagnostic tool that allows a reliable assessment of the child’s existing developmental disorders, as well as an evaluation of their progression over time.
What is the diagnosis of autism spectrum disorders?
Diagnosis of autism spectrum disorders is based on conducting 3-4 meetings with a child or adult, during which observation is carried out using the ADOS-2 protocol. This tool includes a set of tests that provoke the person under study to certain social behaviours, allowing the person to be observed during the natural course of observation. The set of tests makes it possible to check the patient’s behaviour in terms of communication and social interaction, play and imagination or stereotypical behaviour. In the hands of a specialist, this is the gold standard for assessing the symptoms of autism and guiding further therapy.
